This photo was taken on a recent golden afternoon, when my little beasts were snuggled together so sweetly in the warm sunlight... Sadly not this week, as we've been plagued by "wintry mix" (not snow), and two little someones have been stir-crazy and at each other's throats constantly.
Custom iPhone 6 cozy I finished for a very sweet customer today!
And a peak inside my sketchbook book containing a million scraps of paper on which I have made random tiny, distracted scribbles that occasionally turn into something but are quite often forgotten. I find myself doodling the same little birds and flowers and bunnies over and over again, almost subconsciously. Sometimes I pull out my fancy-expensive markers and pretend that I'm using them wisely.
Ok, so this post-a-day thing is proving much harder than I expected, mostly because I keep forgetting and losing track of the days. Anyway, I just can't get enough of my pups, and I know you can't either...
Today would have been my Grammy's 91st birthday. She was kind and funny and beautiful and stubborn and bawdy and classy... not to mention strong and independent and generous and accepting... pretty much The Best Ever. She also happened to be a gourmet cook and would always bake me a caramel cake for my birthday. She passed away when I was twenty-one. I miss her so much, though the pain of losing her has definitely eased over the years. I feel so lucky to have been graced with such an amazing grandmother. I really, really wish Andy could have met her. I like to think that she would be pleased with the little life I have built for myself, even if I never learned to cook properly.
(Grammy 'n me way back in 1997 or so)
(Grammy and her first-born child)
(Grammy in her late teens or early twenties?)
(I think this was her Sweet Sixteen portrait... so glamorous!)
My apologies for the horrible pun. I couldn't resist.
I'm kind of obsessed with fried eggs right now. I eat them for lunch almost every day during the week, and sometimes for dinner. I only conquered my fear of frying eggs in the last year or so... I prefer them sunny side up. Usually they turn out just right, and I feel like a magician. Today, distraction led to one yolk broken and the other only slightly runny. Oh, well. I'm sure to reach total burn-out with fried eggs (just as I did with scrambled eggs) sooner or later, and then it will be time to master The Hard-Boiled Egg. Wish me luck...
